/// Prelude of a water crises (details) 2021 - ongoing
According to the latest climate models, by the end of the century, ⅔ of Hungary will be desertified and the cities will face persistent water shortages. This effect is already being felt now. In the The Great Plain, which is most vulnerable to the effects of climate change, the drying up of small lakes and rivers, and the loss of several metres of groundwater will slowly transform not only the landscape and wildlife but also the lives of the people living there. The area, once known for its agriculture and rich wildlife, is slowly being depopulated and the change seems unstoppable.
